Working for a better world
Reducing emissions and waste material is becoming increasingly important as the issues facing our planet have become more evident, and everything we do can help. This is why, here at Bespoke & Co, we have taken every possible step to lower our emissions and carbon footprint when it comes to our framing processes. Given that the materials we work with are taken from nature, we take the utmost care in making sure that we source our materials from ethical sources.
We believe in the circular economy. The circular economy is an economic and environmental concept that aims to maximise resource efficiency and minimise waste. In a traditional, linear economy, products are made, used, and then discarded as waste. The circular economy, on the other hand, promotes a closed-loop system where resources and products are continuously reused, refurbished, and recycled, thereby reducing the depletion of natural resources and the generation of waste. The average lifespan of our machinery is about 5-7 years, but we’re working with engineers to try to extend that to 10-12 years to minimise the risk of having to discard a full machine before it’s necessary.
Minimizing Physical and Energy Waste:
We have implemented methods to minimise packaging waste. This includes optimising our packaging design to use the minimum amount of material necessary for product protection. We prioritise the use of sustainable and recyclable materials, such as cardboard and paper. We also steer clear of oversized boxes and containers that lead to excessive filler material usage. Instead, we employ innovative packaging solutions like nesting and stackable designs to reduce both space and material consumption during shipping.
Protecting our planet has become more important than ever in recent years, and we can all play a part in environmental conservation. Given that picture framing involves the use of many natural materials, it is of utmost importance to us to source these materials in an eco-friendly manner. Our primary suppliers have established directives and practices to safeguard the environment.
We minimize waste in our frame-making process by using precise measuring tools to ensure we use only as much material as needed. All excess material is either recycled or repurposed in one of our other projects, ensuring nothing goes to waste. Although we use machinery in the process of creating these frames, they operate on compressed air. Our workplace runs on 70% solar energy annually.
We only use certified materials
Our suppliers exclusively utilise certified wood sourced from carefully managed reforestation forests. Additionally, our paper suppliers are dedicated to preserving forests, reducing CO2 emissions, eliminating toxic substances from their products, conserving water resources, and reducing waste.
Additionally, we aim to incorporating natural source woods such as pine, oak, obeche, and ayous wood.
All of this combines to create an eco-friendly practice, allowing us to provide our customers with a guaranteed beautifully made and ethically sourced frame.
